The art room is all decorated for Chinese New Year. This year is year of the Rat. Pictures of projects to come soon! We're learning about dragons, tangrams, pandas, and other interesting customs and ideas!
Coming home soon...second grade snowglobes! We looked at some paintings by Grandma Moses and learned about the foreground, middleground, and background of an artwork, specifically landscape paintings. We added some glitter and shimmery additives to white paint to give our now a freshly fallen look.
Odysee Art students recently made their own version of the color wheel-an edible version! Colors were mixed using food coloring and icing spread on Nila wafers. It was a fun and tasty project!
Here are the second graders' first completed project. Black tempera paint, oil pastels, and crayons wer e used. Your child should be bringing this home attached with a review sheet on the back, so you can see what they learned in doing this assigment. These were very abstract and fun. I think they turned out great!
Finally I have the first graders' first project to share with you. These should be coming home, if not already, this week. Each artwork has attached to it a review sheet that I hope will be useful in letting you know what your child was learning about in the creation of the artwork.
This blog is to document the going ons of the Oregon-Davis Elementary School art room. I teach grades K-6, as well as a 4th-6th Odysee/Enrichment program twice a week. Comments and e-mails are welcome!
